Palette Paintings

There were many days when I’d complete a painting and still have paint remaining on the palette. The colors were so beautiful. Sometimes colors would intermingle creating a color I hadn’t yet discovered. I hated to scrape the paint off the palette and into the trash, so I made a game out of using the leftover paint. It was – “what can I create using only the paint on my palette”. The creations became known as Palette Paintings, usually very small – 7″ x 5″, 5″ x 5″, sometimes 8″ x 8″. As a result of the restrictions I placed upon myself, I was focused, using minimal materials and pleased with the results.
