Limited Editions Explained

Aleta Pippin Offers Open and Limited Editions

Aleta Pippin Art Offering Editions

Aleta Pippin Art is offering archival Limited and Open Editions of many of her contemporary abstract paintings. Here’s what you should know.

What Is Meant by Archival?

Pippin’s editions are created with archival materials. Only the highest quality process and materials are used to create your custom art reproduction. One of the most important materials is archival ink, which is pigment-based rather than dye-based for durability. It is designed for long-term preservation, resisting fading and deterioration and is commonly used for museum-quality prints, documents and art projects.

What Are Limited and/or Open Editions?

Limited Editions are copies of artworks produced in a restricted quantity, making them more exclusive and valuable compared to standard or mass-produced versions. Pippin’s editions will be created from images of her vibrant, energetic, contemporary abstract paintings. Check out Pippin’s Look Back Through the Years to view almost 30 years of paintings. If you happen upon one you can imagine hanging in your home or office and it’s not in the Shop page; just go to Contact and enter the painting’s title and year. Pippin will get back in touch with you.

In addition to her paintings, Pippin anticipates creating editions of her photographs, available in the near future.

What’s Next?

You’ve decided to purchase and have questions about the various Options about how the finished editions will look. Examples of the available Options and descriptions are explained in-depth under “How Are Archival Limited Editions Created?” below.

How Long Before I Receive My Edition?

It normally takes 5 to 8 business days (depending on the size) to create the print. Shipping will take 1 to 7 days, depending on shipping location. Rush is available for an additional 40% of your purchase price. This helps to offset the added cost of production and shipping. A rush piece will usually get to you within 3-4 business days. (Please note – rush may not be available close to the Holidays.)

What Else Do I Need to Know?

All Archival Limited Editions are numbered. You’ll receive a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Pippin mailed directly to you. Additionally, a signed label with edition number will be affixed to the back of your edition.

Open Editions typically are not numbered. However, yours will have a label affixed to the back sequentially numbered with “OE” followed by the number (e.g., OE1, OE2…) to indicate your print’s place in the Open Edition. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Pippin and mailed directly to you.

How Are Archival Limited Editions Created?

There are various techniques and materials from which to create Archival Limited Editions. For purposes of this discussion, we’ll limit the Options to those Pippin is offering.

Acrylic Designer Series

Offers a Modern Display

Acrylic Designer Series – This series provides one of the highest quality digital editions available. Here’s how it’s done.

A high-quality image of the purchased piece is printed on metallic paper which offers depth and pop. That print is then face-mounted to an 1/8″ acrylic panel which is affixed to a 3/8″ black acrylic backer. Basically, the image is sandwiched between the acrylic face and backer as shown above.

Unlike glass, where light passes through, with the Acrylic Designer Series light refracts within the acrylic surface, creating tremendous vibrancy particularly when paired with metallic paper. Acrylic Designer Series editions are available up to 40″ x 30″.

Your creation will arrive ready to hang with an aluminum cleat and full subframe floating your piece 3/4″ from the wall.

Acrylic – Dibond Wall Art Series

For Larger Images Up To 96″ x 48″

Acrylic Wall Art - Dibond backing

Acrylic Dibond Wall Art Series, is much like the Acrylic Designer Series, starting with the image of the Edition you’ve purchased printed on metallic paper, offering a bit more depth and pop. That print is then face-mounted to an 1/8″ acrylic panel (for a thicker acrylic surface 1/4″ or 1/2″ – contact Pippin), then backed with a Dibond panel. Again, the image is sandwiched between the acrylic face and Dibond backer.

Unlike glass where light passes through, with the acrylic surface light refracts creating tremendous vibrancy particularly when paired with metallic paper. Acrylic Dibond Wall Art Series editions are available in any size up to 96″ x 48″.

Your creation will arrive ready to hang with a Douglas Fir wire hanging system floating your piece 3/4″ from the wall.

Chromaluxe Metal Prints

Superior Longevity and Color Vibrancy

Chromaluxe Metal Print

Wave of Gold #2 by Aleta Pippin

Chromaluxe Metal Prints – Experience the brilliance of a Limited Edition on aluminum. These stunning works capture the vibrancy, depth, and energy of Pippin’s originals, enhanced by the luminous sheen of metal, giving each piece a contemporary presence.

The image is created by first placing a photo of the painting on transfer paper using dye-sublimation printing. The print is placed onto the aluminum. Then it travels through a heat press causing the dyes from the transfer paper to transform into a gas. The gaseous dyes are pressed into the surface of the metal. As the metal cools, the dyes return to their solid-state becoming permanently infused into the aluminum.

The metal edition is offered in sizes up to 40″ x 30″. For larger sizes contact Pippin.

Your edition will arrive ready to hang with an aluminum cleat as shown under the Acrylic Designer Series.

Disclaimer – The coating on the Chromaluxe metal prints can sometimes show subtle imperfections that, at regular viewing distance may not be noticed. Please note though, editions on metal cannot be redone based on subtle imperfections.
