In 2005, I spent time exploring Yupo paper as a substrate. Yupo paper is a synthetic paper alternative that is ultra-smooth and bright white. Paint stays on the surface versus penetrating it, resulting in vibrantly rich color. Additionally because the paper is slick, one can move the paint along the surface, creating imagery that would be impossible with a brush or palette knife.
