2003
In 2003, I committed to becoming a full-time artist, which meant several years of taking workshops with local Santa Fe artists as well as visiting artists. During that time, I created numerous paintings, learning materials and technique. As I progressed, I achieved an important goal (at that time) of getting juried into the Santa Fe Society of Artists.
The first set of paintings you’ll see in this Look Back are oils and mixed media with a gestural bent. Then I decided to work with acrylics, flowing the paint through channels I’d created by draping yards of canvas over various height stools. Here I want to thank artist, Bette Ridgeway for her teaching video demonstrating the flowed painting process. Delighting in this method, I produced numerous paintings through the next few years.
